We are passionate about supporting our communities.
Local support, regional projects or national disaster relief initiatives - for over 30 years, Thrifty Foods has worked closely with our partners to nourish the arts, support our students, nurture the earth, find a cure, feed the hungry, fuel our athletes and provide much needed disaster relief to those in need here at home and around the world.
The Legacy
Each day, we have the ability to give back to those in need. This philosophy originally stemmed from the benevolence and open-mindedness of Thrifty Foods' founder Alex A. Campbell and continues today.
Hundreds of charitable organizations of all sizes and thousands of individuals in each of our communities have benefitted, overcoming obstacles and attaining unimaginable goals thanks in part to the sponsorship opportunities at Thrifty Foods.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for community support, the applicant must be a registered Canadian Charity or a registered BC Society and reside in an area in which Thrifty Foods does business. Sponsorship Opportunities
In order for us to support as many deserving community groups as possible and to better understand our community's needs, we ask that for requests over $500 qualifying organizations complete our Community Support Application Form along with covering letter six weeks prior to your event. We also require that you review the Application Guidelines below.
How to Apply
Store Level Donation OpportunitiesRequests for support under $500 require that you complete a Community Support Application Form [PDF - 131 KB] along with a covering letter. Forms should be directed to the attention of your local Store Manager and delivered to the Thrifty Foods location closest to your organization at least three weeks prior to the event or activity. Please visit only one store per request.
Corporate Donations over $500
At Thrifty Foods, we receive hundreds of requests for community support from a wide range of organizations each year.
After reviewing the program requirements, we ask that you prepare and submit a package six weeks prior to your event with the following:
A cover letter, on organization letterhead, that includes:
- Name of organization
- Contact name
- Brief description of the organization
- Number of paid employees and number of volunteers in the organization
- Event/project details including a full description, timelines and any additional sources of funding for the event/project
- Recognition opportunities for Thrifty Foods
A completed Thrifty Foods Community Support Application Form ensuring:
- All questions are completed in full
- The appropriate official of the organization signs the form
- A copy of the form is kept for your records

Application Assessment
Applications for over $500 are reviewed on a monthly basis, under $500 requests are reviewed bi-weekly. Thrifty Foods reserves the right to make all final decisions on which groups receive what level of support. Due to demand, and our commitment to support a fair and equitable cross-section of as many community organizations as possible, we are not able to approve all applications.
