Your wedding day will be one of your "most treasured" occasions, and your cake is a centerpiece of your wedding. Here are few tips to consider.

Reserve your date early. Creating the perfect cake takes time. You can reserve more than a year in advance and we also accept reservations closer to the wedding date if there is time available, as we do limit the number of orders we accept.

Choosing your wedding cake can be a difficult task with all the styles and designs available. You'll want to consider the following in your decision:

  • Cake Flavours - each tier can be a different flavour
  • Cake Fillings - each tier can be a different flavour
  • Cake Icing - Butter cream, fondant, fresh whipped cream
  • Design - While we have many pictures you can browse through, we also welcome any design you have in mind. If you have found something in a magazine or on the Internet, bring it along to your consultation.

Tip: If you have already decided on the colour theme of your wedding, bring a swatch of fabric to your consultation, as it can be used to coordinate the colours of your cake.

  • The size of your cake - How many guests do you plan to feed with your wedding cake? Will there be other desserts to choose from? Do you want to save the top tier for your first anniversary? Our wedding cake designers can help you to decide on the perfect size.
  • Location of your wedding reception -  Wedding cakes can melt in the outdoors, so choose your cake carefully. Stay away from mousse, butter icing and real whipping cream, unless proper refrigeration can be provided for the cake.
  • Delivery - At Thrifty Foods, we can deliver and set up your wedding cake at the reception site. Let us take care of your cake, so you don't have to.
