The Art of Weddings - Floral
Your Wedding Flowers - A Few Tips to Consider
Your wedding day will be one of your "most treasured" occasions, and your flowers will play a big part in making your day beautiful and memorable. After all, the bride and bridal bouquet are prime focal points at any wedding, and the style of your flowers should complement that of your dress.
For your bridal attendants you can also match flowers to their dresses, or coordinate the colours of the flowers to complement the entire wedding party.
Our floral consultants are designers trained by well-known professionals in the industry, including Hitomi Gilliam and Suzanne Law, and we are here to help you make the best choices for your special day.

Tip: Bring a swatch (or swatches) of fabric to your consultation, along with a photo of your dress.
Corsages and Boutonnieres
Your bouquet and your groom's boutonniere should, naturally, complement each other. But when it comes to the rest of your bridal party, who should wear a corsage or boutonniere?
Well, traditions have changed and pretty much anything goes.
Most parents and grandparents are delighted to be recognized with a flower to wear at your wedding. It's nice to have them complement each other by adorning all of them with the same flower or style. Keeping it simple and elegant, whites or creams are perfect colours for these coordinated touches.
Tip: For ladies, you may want to complement their dress colour but because pinned corsages can ruin some fabrics, be sure ask whether they prefer a pinned or wrist corsage.
If you have a Master of Ceremonies, it's always nice to have a boutonniere for him, or a lovely corsage for her.
Tip: Determine the number of corsages and boutonnieres you will need. View our Corsages & Boutonnieres Photo Gallery.
Flower Girls and Ring Bearers
There are samples in the photo gallery for you to choose from. Traditionally, these participants match the wedding party in the colours of flowers they wear.
Tip: If your flower girl is going to wear a head wreath, take the measurement using a piece of string or ribbon. If you have your own special pillow or basket you want to use, bring it along and we can custom design it for you. View our Accessories Photo Gallery.
Flowers for Church and Reception Hall
You may choose to be married on a beach or in a small celebration with family and close friends. Or you may want a grand event. You may even choose to hold it in your own back garden.
Either way, there are many styles of floral arrangements to choose from to enhance your wedding theme. View our Arrangements Photo Gallery.
Tip: You can always use the church floral arrangements for your reception. Just delegate someone to transfer them for you.
There are so many great books and magazines that offer ideas. Attending bridal shows is another great way to see what's new and different. All Thrifty Foods locations have wedding books for your browsing pleasure.
Tip: If you see something in a magazine that captures your fancy, bring it along to your consultation.
No matter how big or small, how formal or casual it may be, your wedding should reflect your individual personality, your interests and your budget.
However you choose to celebrate it, remember that your wedding is primarily that - a celebration - a moment to enjoy and remember forever.
Make your moment a lasting memory when you plan it with the experts at Thrifty Foods who specialize in making weddings happen.
