Job Summary
The Warehouse Driver reports directly to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for timely and accurate distribution of goods on behalf of Thrifty Foods. The Driver will always be cognizant of the integrity and safety of the materials they transport. The Warehouse Driver demonstrates excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and the commitment to the success of the Thrifty Foods team.
Job Requirements
Specific Responsibilities:
-Operates equipment correctly and performs duties in a safety conscious manner
-Responds promptly and effectively to any safety or operational equipment problems
-Complies with all Transport Canada rules and regulations
-Completes pre-trip inspection in accordance with motor vehicle regulations and submits to supervisor.
-Unloads and cleans trailer upon returning to warehouse, before completion of shift
-Maintains acceptable driving record and a valid Class 1 license at all times
-Retrieves mail for delivery to stores and returns mail to Head Office
-Assists with removal of all merchandise from truck, handling product carefully to avoid damage (retail destinations)
-Informs supervisor of any maintenance issues promptly
-Ensures paperwork and related documentation is accurate and legible; maintains records and files
-Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable Thrifty Foods policies and procedures
Knowledge and Experience:
-Minimum 1-2 years driving experience
-Able to operate all power equipment: forklifts, reach trucks and power jacks
-Applicants must provide a minimum of 2 names for reference checks, one reference must be from a current Manager or Supervisor
