Job Summary
The Assistant Produce Manager will assist the Department Manager to ensure that the department is operated in a fiscally responsible manner. This will include management of labour costs, inventory control and maximizing sales & profits. The Assistant will also assist the Manager with conducting performance reviews and staff evaluations as well as the training and supervision of staff. This position will also ensure that the department is maintained according to Thrifty Foods presentation standards. The Assistant Manager must be prepared to assume the responsibilities of the Department Manager in his or her absence.
Job Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Thrifty Foods policies and procedures.
- Excellent ability to provide high-level customer service and to motivate others to do the same.
- Experienced at training and supervision of staff.
- Must be able to communicate instructions and directions clearly and effectively.
- Proven ability to deal with difficult interpersonal situations with positive results.
- Strong with details with the ability to ensure minimum error in matters such as receiving product and checking invoices.
- Demonstrated skill at ordering and merchandising grocery products on a daily basis and to highlight seasonal trends and special promotions to maximize sales and profits.
- Good product knowledge and awareness of product changes and seasonal requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to make difficult decisions.
