    Thrifty Foods Cloverdale first opened its doors back in 1997 and as the times have changed, so has our store. We're quite proud of our newly renovated store and look forward to offering you a new shopping experience.

  • Symphony Splash

    August 1, 2010

    More than thirty Thrifty Foods employees gave their time and energy on August 1 to raise money for the Victoria Symphony at Symphony Splash! This year's event was another successful Sunday, with plenty of snacks sold and $2935 donated to the Symphony (all proceeds from sales). Thanks again to our vendors Frito Lay and Coke, who generously donated product for us to sell.

    Food for Families and BC Sharing are two great programs that in the last year raised more than $380,000! A big heartfelt thank you to all our customers who generously support their local food banks with a donation at the till.

  • Boomer's Legacy

    June 18 - 19, 2010

    As part of the 4th annual Boomer's Legacy Bike ride, 25 cyclists cycled from Comox to Victoria on June 18 and June 19. Thrifty Foods provided the food for this worthy event that raises money for the Boomer's Legacy fund, which assists front line soldiers in the direct provision of medical services and supplies, school supplies, and other items to improve the quality of life in Afghanistan.

  • 25th Annual ChildRun

    June 5 - 6, 2010

    The 25th annual ChildRun set new records for participation and fundraising. More than 6,300 people registered for the event this year, which included a 5km run and the Thrifty Foods 1km Fun Run.

    Funds raised from ChildRun and during the BC Children's Hospital Miracle Weekend totalled over $16.5 million. Donations to the Miracle Weekend are used to support the purchase of life-saving equipment, research into the treatment, prevention and cure of childhood diseases, recruitment and educational programs for caregivers, and programs in communities throughout the province.

  • Youth Golf Clinics 2010

    May 30 - 31, 2010

    This year over 100 kids participated in the Thrifty Foods Youth Golf Clinics at Uplands Golf Course. The clinics were taught by professional golfers and members of the UVic Vikes Golf team. All proceeds from the clinics are donated to youth golf programs in Victoria.

  • Sources Community Food Bank

    May 28, 2010

    From February 24 until March 23, Thrifty Foods Morgan Crossing donated 1% of sales to the Sources Community Food Bank. On Friday, May 28, Thrifty Foods presented the Food Bank with a cheque for $18,701.

    Sources relies on over 80 regular volunteers to provide their services and survives through support of food and monetary donations from the community. Their services include shower and laundry facilities, and providing nutritious food, clothing and household items to White Rock/South Surrey community members in need.

  • Nutrition for You Wins Regional Award

    We are pleased to announce that Nutrition for You was selected as the Speaking of Food and Healthy Living Award regional winner for British Columbia!

    Jessalyn O'Donnell, Registered Dietitian, received the award on behalf of Thrifty Foods at the Dietitians of Canada Annual Conference held in Montreal from May 27 to May 29.

  • Tour de Rock Kick Off

    May 15, 2010

    This family fun event was a chance for everyone to come out and meet and greet the 2010 Tour de Rock Team Members, their supporters, sponsors and community volunteers. Sponsored by Coast Capital Savings, Thrifty Foods and the Beach club resort, it was a fun day with the RCMP Helicopter on site.

  • Delta Hospital Walk for Health

    May 11, 2010

    On May 2, Thrifty Foods sponsored the Walk for Health - a fundraiser for Delta Hospital Foundation - by providing nourishment and energy to participants. $10 Smile Cards were also handed out as fundraising incentives. In the end, about 260 walkers raised over $55,000!

  • TC10K

    April 25, 2010

    On April 25th, Thrifty Foods volunteers helped feed the 13,508 participants who registered for the TC10K this year. The event included a 10km run and the Thrifty Foods Family Run, both of which were held in downtown Victoria.

  • MS Walk

    April 11, 2010

    Thrifty Foods volunteers were on hand to help feed over 650 participants at this year's MS Walk in Victoria. Event participants walked through Oak Bay, then gathered at Willows Beach Park for lunch and a celebration with music and entertainment.

  • Help for Haiti

    March 1, 2010

    Thank you to all British Columbians for making a world of difference to the families who are facing one of the largest urban disasters. These funds will be assisting the Canadian Red Cross to provide the necessary humanitarian responses.

  • 22nd Annual Herb Bradley Coca-Cola Classic

    The 22nd Annual Herb Bradley Coca-Cola Classic took place on Sunday, February 7 at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. This fundraiser for the Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports was open to all public and attracted both skiers and boarders.

  • Gorge Road Hospital Christmas Dinner

    The staff and patients of Gorge Road Hospital were treated to an amazing Christmas Dinner this year. The hospital staff all pitched in and cooked four turkeys with all the fixings, which was all provided by Thrifty Foods. Each of the hospital patients were also given a care package for Christmas, compliments of Thrifty Foods.

  • CFAX Santas Anonymous

    December 29, 2009

    CFAX Santas Anonymous raises funds through general donations and special events, including the annual "Miracle on Broad Street Radiothon", which is supported by Thrifty Foods.

  • Annual Sendial Luncheon

    On December 14, over 380 Sendial Volunteers from our Victoria, Tsawwassen, Duncan and Mill Bay stores gathered at the Victoria Conference Centre for the Annual Christmas Luncheon. All of the volunteers who participate in the service for the community at large are dedicated to helping those in need.

  • CIBC Run for the Cure

    Over 4000 participants turned out in support of this year's Run for the Cure fundraiser at UVic. In total, over $500,000 was raised in Victoria. Many Thrifty Foods employees showed their support by volunteering at the event, while other employees raised money for the cause and walked the 5km route.

  • Tour de Rock Finale

    October 2, 2009

    After two weeks and over 1100km of cycling, the Tour de Rock team arrived at their final stop - the Bay Centre in Victoria. This year, the team raised 1.3 million dollars, including a donation of $46167.85 from Thrifty Foods.

  • Double Up

    September 29, 2009

    Earlier this year, Thrifty Foods announced a partnership with Vancouver Island University (VIU) to provide financial support to students. The new initiative, called Double Up, will see Thrifty Foods match funds raised by VIU faculty, staff and students for scholarships, awards, bursaries and student projects. VIU's goal is to increase internal fundraising to $20,500 in 2009, and Thrifty Foods will provide matching funds, dollar for dollar.

  • Tour de Rock Send Off

    The Tour de Rock Send Off took place at Broadmead Thrifty Foods on September 19. The Tour stopped at many Thrifty Foods stores on the Island, who helped raise funds for Cops for Cancer.  

  • Easter Seals Regatta

    The Easter Seals Regatta is a unique fundraiser that raises money for Camp Shawnigan and Easter Seals House in Vancouver. It's all about giving children with disabilities a place to go where they're free from life's daily challenges.

  • A Day at the Farm

    September 12, 2009

    Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust hosted "A Day at the Farm" 2009 to spread the word about the importance of agriculture in the region. Thrifty Foods supported this event by providing gift cards for the purchase of volunteer food, a gift basket for a draw prize and the use of two Thrifty Foods tents.

  • Victoria Burn House Fundraiser

    September 5, 2009

    Staff from Thrifty Foods Tuscany Village and Quadra stores came together to raise funds for the Victoria Burn House, which provides free accommodation for families of patients undergoing treatment for burn injuries. From the sale of food, balloons, raffles and dunk tank games, $3000 was raised for this important place.

  • Canada Day

    Thrifty Foods was the title sponsor of the Canada Day event in Parksville. Our Smile Team worked hard to organize the parade and staffed the special events trailer to feed thousands of people in attendance at the park. They cooked hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, with proceeds of over $1000 going to Tour de Rock.

    Thrifty Foods was proud to sponsor the half-marathon 22km Shawnigan Lake Walk for the Cowichan Family Caregivers Support Society. This year, 228 walkers/runners participated raising over $20,000 for this worthy cause.

    RoundUp for Research is a classic western style FUNdraising campaign that takes place in communities throughout BC. Local business people are "arrested" by volunteer sheriffs during the campaign. Our very own Andy Carter, store manager of Thrifty Foods Tsawwassen was a participant this year.
