Thrifty Foods is an active part of many local events and fundraisers in your community - here are just a few of the upcoming events that we proudly support.

  • Hyack Festival in New Westminster

    We are proud to sponsor the Hyack Festival in New Westminster!  Look for us in the parade, come out to the many other events during this week-long community festival!

  • Wellness Event: The Gluten Free Diet: Everything you need to know

    Learn how to live a happy and healthy gluten-free life from the experts: members of the Victoria Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association.

    Receive a CCA New Member Kit: a guidebook to living well with celiac disease, a Pocket Dictionary of Allowable Ingredients, a host of helpful information from recipes for delicious gluten-free bread to free samples of gluten-free products. Family and friends are welcome to attend at no charge to lend support and be supported themselves. Content and pace are geared to adults and teenagers.

    Cost: $50 and includes membership to the Canadian Celiac Association. If already a CCA member, the class is free. Pre-registration required. Class starts at 10 am. Snacks provided.     Don't miss Vancouver Island's largest parade event of the year. This year's parade will be bigger and better than ever in honour of the City of Victoria celebrating 150 years. Come and see the Thrifty Foods float!

  • Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay

    Benefiting BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities
    Victoria, UVIC Centennial Stadium - June 2 - June 3
    Vancouver, Swangard Stadium - June 16 - 17

    Close to 200 teams of 20 runners gather each June to raise funds to benefit the BC Lions Society's three Easter Seal Camps in Squamish, Shawnigan and Winfield. With over 5,000 participants, volunteers, and organizers, the 24 Hour Relay is the largest fundraiser of its kind in Canada. Relay fundraisers annually send over 850 children in British Columbia to the Society's specially-equipped camps free of charge. Each year, Thrifty Foods' two teams "Miles of Smiles" in Vancouver, and "Aisles of Smiles" in Victoria fundraise and participate in this fundraiser. In 2011, Thrifty Foods raised over $15,000. Look for store fundraising initiatives at your local store… we, along with the kids, really appreciate your support!

  • Time Colonist Island Savings Open & Thrifty Foods Youth Golf Clinics

    Benefiting University of Victoria Athletes

    As sponsors of the TC Open in Victoria, Thrifty Foods offers youth golf clinics with professional golfers and instructors. The clinics are taught by members of the University of Victoria Vikes Varsity Golf Program, click here for information on registration. One recipient from each clinic will have a chance to "Walk with the Pros" during the TC Open and another lucky recipient will win a professional golf lesson at Uplands Golf Course. Proceeds benefit the Thrifty Foods Athletic Award, which supports student athletes at the University of Victoria.

  • 27th Annual ChildRun & Thrifty Foods 1km Family Fun Run

    BC Children's Hospital Foundation

    As the largest family fun run in Vancouver, ChildRun inspires participants to raise funds for childhood cancer research and treatment areas at BC Children's Hospital. On Sunday, June 3rd, 2012, the 27th annual ChildRun presented by the Wilson Family will host runners and walkers of all ages and abilities on a scenic 5km route through Queen Elizabeth Park or the Thrifty Foods 1km Fun Run, followed by a carnival celebration. Come say hi to the Thrifty Foods team - we've been working hard to fundraise and look forward to participating in the run!

  • 7th Annual Teeny Tiny Garden Tour

    Benefiting Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care

    This annual fundraiser is a beautiful way to support Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care. Here is your chance to see a variety of private and unique garden's throughout the 'Garden City' that prove "small is beautiful". All proceeds support Victoria Hospice end-of-life care services and programs. Tickets can be purchased at your local Thrifty Foods store.

  • Easter Seals WAVES Regatta

    Benefiting BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities

    The annual BC Lions Society fundraiser for children with disabilities promises an exciting weekend filled with boat races, festival, BBQ, silent auction, and live entertainment. The National Bank Easter Seals WAVES Regatta, features three days of keelboat & dinghy racing fun both on and off the water while supporting a great cause, Easter Seals House Vancouver.

  • Thrifty Foods Young Chef Program

    Benefiting 19 Active Communities on Vancouver Island & the Lower Mainland

    Registration open May - June

    Camps take place on various dates in July - August

    Thrifty Foods has partnered up with 19 community centre's on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland to offer Young Chef Camps this summer for 9 - 12 year olds. This fun and energizing camp features hands-on educational and nutritional snack preparation; choosing the right foods in the grocery store and developing food skills in the kitchen. Participants customize their own recipe calendar to take home at the end of the week.  For registration info, click here.


  • Thrifty Foods Nanaimo Barbeque Festival

    Benefiting Nanaimo Hospital Foundation

    Come downtown Nanaimo to commercial street for an incredible BBQ cook off and family fun! There will be live entertainment, a family fun zone, outdoor vendors with BBQ and other treats, a rib eating contest as well as a huge Summer Fun Expo in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.There will be up to 35 contestants competing in a barbecue cook off that will be judged by a panel of International experts in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event.

    This is the real deal…. if you like BBQ then this is the place to be.

  • 28th Annual Silly Boat Regatta

    Benefiting Nanaimo Child Development Centre

    Community members made up of service clubs, businesses, schools, families, and individuals form teams to raise pledges, draft up a boat design and construct a "silly boat" that is raced around a buoy in hopes of returning to shore without sinking. Join us for a spectacular day full of fun, camaraderie and of course, silly antics! Race day festivities continue with music, performers, and free family activities. Come out for a fun and silly day on the water in support of the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

  • Filberg Festival

    Benefiting Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park

    The annual four-day Filberg Festival is the art event of the summer! Held each BC Day long weekend, the Festival features more than 120 artisans, great food and lively entertainment for all ages on the beautiful 9-acre waterfront Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park in Comox. Tickets are available at all Thrifty Foods locations.

  • Victoria Symphony Splash

    Benefiting Victoria Symphony

    The Symphony Splash is an annual Victoria Symphony event that takes place on a floating stage moored in Victoria's Inner Harbour. It includes musical entertainment, food, souvenirs and the evening's highlight: a live performance by the Victoria Symphony. Splash is now one of the largest annual symphony events in North America, attracting up to 40,000 Victoria residents and visitors. Come and visit our staff and volunteers who will be selling snacks under our tent. All proceeds from snacks sold go directly to the Victoria Symphony.
