Thrifty Foods recognized for outstanding contributions to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation over the last three years.
As part of the second annual Corporate Recognition Event, Thrifty Foods Nanaimo Store Managers, Mikel Knutsson of Port Place and Jerry Jaggers of Brooks Landing, were on hand to receive a plaque from the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in November.
The presentation ceremony recognized the Thrifty Foods Parksville store, as well as the three Nanaimo area locations, for their ongoing support and in-store fundraising activities over the past three years.
This event recognized Thrifty Foods for the following campaigns:
Pumpkins for Charity
In the last three years, over $12,000 has been donated directly to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation from pumpkins sold during the Thrifty Foods annual Pumpkins for Charity event. Every year, Thrifty Foods donates one dollar from the sale of every pumpkin to local hospital foundations for their specific fundraising needs.
Lotto for Life
Over $3,000 in Smile Cards has been donated to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in the last three years as part of Lotto for Life.
Thrifty Foods participates in the event through sales of lottery tickets in each of the Nanaimo area stores as well as at the Parksville location. All proceeds from this year's event went towards the purchase of emergency equipment for the Nanaimo Regional District Hospital.
